A new comedy about devotion, desire and dancing queens. The Way Old Friends Do follows the story of two Birmingham school friends who come out as gay and an ABBA fan, respectively, in the late 1980s. Years later, they reunite to form the world’s first ABBA tribute band in drag. The story explores the tribulations of life on the road and the friendship between the two friends as they navigate through platform boots, fake beards, and a distractingly attractive stranger. Simultaneously tender and funny, this heartfelt story will appeal to anyone who understands the feeling of being a fan. This production marks eStage's fourth project at Birmingham Rep.
