On the Ropes, a musical drama that pulsates with the rhythmic energies of blues, reggae and boxing, tells the extraordinary story of Vernon Vanriel, a member of the Windrush Generation who rose to prominence as one of the most charismatic and influential Black British boxers of the 70s and 80s. The show, which is an energetic fusion of live music, humour, poetry and the duck and weave of the boxing ring, is a celebration of Vernon - aka The Entertainer - and, ultimately, of how courage, dignity and a fighting spirit can triumph over prejudice and injustice. Our production team managed the show, working closely with the set builder to create a dynamic and engaging set that brought the story to life. This was the first of three shows we production managed at the Park this year.
